A Petition to Give Birth to a New World

To the people and leaders of the world:

We, the undersigned, believe that humanity has reached a moment when we must choose between continuing the cycle of war—or creating the conditions for peace.

We therefore call for a Nine-Month Global Peace Pause.

Nine months is the time it takes to bring new human life into the world.

We ask the nations of Earth to give humanity those same nine months to stop killing, stop destroying, and begin rebuilding.

WE CALL FOR NINE MONTHS OF:

Ceasefires and an end to offensive military operations wherever possible.

Diplomacy instead of escalation.

Humanitarian access to every population suffering from war.

Protection of civilians, especially children, families, medical workers, and humanitarian personnel.

Negotiations between opposing governments and armed parties.

Prisoner exchanges and humanitarian agreements wherever possible.

Reconstruction of homes, hospitals, schools, and communities destroyed by war.

Investment in human needs rather than the continued destruction of human life.

THE POWER OF THE PURSE

In democratic nations, the people entrust their elected representatives with the power to decide how public money is spent.

In the United States, the Constitution gives Congress significant authority over war, the armed forces, and federal appropriations.

We call upon Congress to use that constitutional authority to pursue a Nine-Month Peace Pause by restricting federal funding for offensive military operations, while preserving resources necessary for legitimate defense, civilian protection, humanitarian relief, diplomacy, and other essential purposes.

We call upon citizens everywhere to make the same demand of their own governments through lawful democratic action.

WHY NINE MONTHS?

Because peace needs time.

Time for the guns to become silent.

Time for families to return home.

Time for humanitarian aid to reach those in need.

Time for enemies to sit across a table.

Time for diplomats to negotiate.

Time for wounds to begin healing.

Time to imagine something beyond the next battlefield.

Nine months will not solve every conflict.

But nine months could save countless lives.

Nine months could open doors that war has kept closed.

Nine months could change the direction of history.

WE ASK OUR LEADERS:

Will you give diplomacy a chance?

Will you put human life before endless escalation?

Will you use the public resources entrusted to you to build a future rather than perpetuate destruction?

Will you give humanity nine months to breathe?

OUR PLEDGE

We, the undersigned, peacefully call upon governments, legislatures, international institutions, and citizens throughout the world to support a Nine-Month Global Peace Pause.

We believe that choosing peace is not weakness.

Peace is an act of courage.

We believe that protecting human life is not naïve.

It is our highest responsibility.

We believe that humanity is capable of something greater than perpetual war.

We choose to give that possibility a chance.

NINE MONTHS.
